About the Artist

Hi there! My name's Lesley Anderson and I'm the artist behind the portraits that you see here at Southpaw Gallery. I've always loved to draw and paint, and have always had a deep affection for animals of all kinds. The light kind of went on after awhile that it'd probably be a good idea to try to find a way to combine these things, and so Southpaw Gallery was born.

You probably want to know a bit more, don't you? *cue flashback music*

I grew up in the little seaside town of Rockport, Massachusetts, where I was surrounded by art from an early age. One of the United States' oldest artist colonies, Rockport is known for its arts community and is peppered with galleries and independent artists. Most specialize in landscapes, and it's not hard to see why with the beauty of the seashore that Rockport provides!

Despite the gorgeous surroundings, I was always more drawn (har har) to people and animals in my artwork, and had my first dedicated, personal exhibit at the Cape Ann Historical Museum at the age of 13. In addition, I've had artwork featured in local businesses, the Rockport Art Association, and have recently illustrated my first children's book.

In addition to creating artwork, I'm also a freelance web copywriter, an accomplished pianist, and I love to participate in community theater, bake, and spend time with my own pets.
